Remote Access Scam

Remote Access Scam

Remote Access Scam

CCR’s Security team has received reports of telephone calls to unsuspecting users claiming to be from Microsoft and/or “Windows”, offering to remove malware from users’ PCs remotely. In actuality, scammers are remoting into the victim’s PC and stealing confidential information and in some cases rendering the PC unable to boot. The calls received so far have involved perpetrators with foreign accents speaking broken English.  The real Microsoft does not contact end users directly by telephone.

CCR advises anyone who receives phone calls of this nature to immediately hang up.

The CCR TAS Notification System was created to keep you informed of possible threats to your corporate network environment.
